YesShield can help you avoid unwanted changes and malware by protecting your files and folders or even complete drives. It works by creating a “sandbox” in which applications run. This way any change is redirected without affecting the real data on your disks.

The program has an intuitive tabbed interface. If you visit the tabs in a sort of wizard mode, starting from the left, you can configure the program to work without difficulty. The first tab helps you select the drives to protect and at the same time activates or deactivates the protected mode. The second tab allows you to create an exclusion list, that is, those files and folders that you do not want to protect. The third tab can help you make some changes permanent. This way, the selected modification will remain even after you have abandoned the protected mode. The Administration tab lets you configure the program’s behavior, such as running from the System Tray or starting along with the system. Finally, you can also view the status of the drives in protected mode.

YesShield can be used to protect not only your system but also your privacy. For instance, you can navigate the Internet and be confident that none of the sites you visit or the activities you do are going to be permanently registered.

In general, YesShield is much easier to use than other similar software. For example, its developers have implemented a very simple solution to keep selected changes. Fortunately, it has versions supporting for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It is too bad that the program does not integrate with the system to let you run given applications in protected mode. In fact, the program seems to be oriented towards protecting disk locations instead of blocking the activities of some applications from becoming permanent.
